We’re on a mission to cultivate a vibrant orchard of hope and healing. Our purpose is to nurture communities by funding the life-giving work of AID ATLANTA and local partners, offering free HIV/AIDS care, testing, and prevention. We blossom together to dispel stigma and celebrate every unique, juicy soul, creating safe, affirming spaces for all genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and paces. Through the sweet energy of our activists, volunteers, and ambassadors, we honor the memories of those we’ve lost while growing a garden of life, love, and acceptance for every individual.

Our History
Our founders, Front Runners Atlanta, was started in 1991 by a group of LGBTQIA+ runners who were seeking a community during the HIV crisis. Due to the hostility toward our community at the time, they had to meet in secret at an Atlanta Library. Their mission was to create friendships and community through running.
That same year, they created the Atlanta Pride Run, the first LGBTQIA+ run in the Southeast, to raise money to help those impacted by HIV.
The Run began in 1991 and was called the “Gay and Lesbian Pride Day Run.” In 2002, it was rebranded as Atlanta Pride Run. Finally, in 2024, it was rebranded as Pride Run ATL. Since 1991, participants have raised more than $500,000 for the HIV and AIDS-related services in Atlanta.

I get emotional thinking about how much this event means to the community. Because of this event, we can help people get free access to HIV testing and treatment to live longer lives. Watching this event grow from 650 runners in 2019 to 3,000 in 2024 really proves that CHANGE can happen when enough people care about something.
